Boehringer Ingelheim is one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies and it is on the verge of getting FDA approval for one of the most talked about prescription sexual drugs ever developed.
Boehringer is a seventeen billion dollar company, but when the FDA approves the Flibanserin drug that figure may jump dramatically.
Boehringer developed the Flibanserin drug to treat depression, but just like Sildenafil, better known as Viagra, the early clinical tests reveal a very important side effect. Viagra was developed to relieve hypertension; the Flibanserin drug was developed as an antidepressant, but the sexual side effects of both drugs may make them the most important prescription drugs in history.
Viagra already has earned a spot as the top selling drug of all time, but the Flibanserin drug may claim that title once it is approved for medical use by the FDA.
The four clinical studies on the Flibanserin drug are impressive in terms of relieving some of the symptoms of female sexual dysfunction (FSD) in pre-menopausal women.
Boehringer’s recent trials show that women suffering from hypoactive sexual desire disorder and sexual arousal disorder increased their sexual satisfying experiences from three to five a month when 100mg of Flibanserin drug is used daily for at least forty weeks.
That increase may not sound impressive to some women, but it is a monumental increase in sexual activity for women with female sexual dysfunction issues.
Boehringer is considering marketing the Flibanserin drug under the brand name Girosa when the FDA approves it for medical use. One of the interesting things about the Flibanserin drug is that it’s non-hormonal, which means the ingredients in the formula are not synthetic sexual hormones like most other prescription medications for FSD.
Dopamine D4 receptor and serotonin 5-HT are the main ingredients. Boehringer claims that the Flibanserin drug increases dopamine and decreases serotonin in the brain. That change stimulates sexual hormones, but no one knows exactly how the Flibanserin drug accomplishes that feat.
The Flibanserin Drug Does Have Side Effects
Just like all prescription medications the Flibanserin drug does cause some annoying side effects. Women in the clinical studies say headaches, nausea, anxiety, insomnia, dizziness, and fatigue can disrupt daily life some days, while other women say they are not an issue.
Most of the women in the trials use the Flibanserin drug for at least forty eight days and some women begin to experience sexual results after forty days. The trials show that women can experience slight side effects before the sexually satisfying results begin to manifest.
